Indian summer

The most enjoyable time of summer is late summer!

A wonderful idea when everyone else already has the vacation behind them and you still have it ahead of you!

Looking forward to traveling in a pleasant climate makes the end of summer less awful.

You never have to worry that there will be no sunshine when you go on vacation later in the year. In September, it is still around 25 degrees in Portugal. This way you can store a good supply of vitamin D for the winter. In addition, the sun’s rays in autumn are much softer than in the heart of summer, which allows you to sunbathe more safely and also allows you to take very special vacation photos. The evening light is insanely photogenic!

Another advantage of autumn is that it is so much quieter everywhere. Most tourists are back home and you can see everything better, no queues for sightseeing or restaurants and you can chat with the locals. Activities are more enjoyable when it is not so scorching hot.

There is a lovely private pool, large terrace, deck chairs, sitting area under the porch, or if it is cooler in go sit in the tastefully decorated living room, possibly with the wood stove on!

It is a nice base for visits to cities such as Coimbra, Viseu, Guarda with many historical sites, or go the Serra da Estrela and make beautiful hikes in the mountains, or do you prefer to do a beautiful cycling route along the river Dão? Smaller villages and the many river beaches are definitely recommended. Kayaking on the Mondego, a beautiful river, you can do it all.
